Exploring the Website – 1. Daily Devotional Resources
Welcome to a series of articles exploring the content on the new church website. In this article we will look at the daily devotional resources which can be accessed from a link on the Homepage and within the Worship > Prayer Ministry > Circuit Prayer Diary area from the Top Menus.
Although originally designed to enable daily access to the Circuit Prayer Diary the pages have been developed to include additional resources which may be helpful.
I realise that many of you use published resources and these pages are not designed to replace those but they do offer on-line access to a range of material which can be used to support your daily devotional time. Whether that be a short period “grabbed on the run” or a more structured prayer time set aside each day.
You are encouraged to join with us in praying for the topic of the Circuit prayer diary and are welcome to use any of the other resources provided which will be explained in more depth below.
The link to the pages can be found towards the bottom of the Homepage as shown.
This link is automatically renewed each day to give access to the relevant page for that day, so this is the best way to access the pages. Navigating via the menus will take you to all of the Circuit prayer pages, where you will need to select the appropriate link for the day of the month, to reach the correct page for that day.
Once you have clicked on the link the page for the day will load.
Although fairly self explanatory there are 5 areas on each page as follows:
1: The prayer for the day from the Circuit Prayer handbook – for any of the congregation who do not use electronic resources, copies of this are available from the church stewards or from the Circuit Office, if your supplies have been exhausted.
2: The Methodist Church produces a prayer manual to assist in daily devotions and an order for the new copy will be announced at the appropriate time. Although not reproducing the very helpful prayers, due to copyright etc. It was thought helpful to direct our thoughts and prayers to the National and International parts of Methodism being prayed for each day. These are listed in this section.
3: The Methodist Curch provides a daily prayer and the “feed” from this is in this section. Click on the heading or the date below it to access the full prayer on the Methodist Church website.
4: The Methodist Church also provides a daily Bible study which is set out weekly. This is in this section click on the appropriate day of the week to access the material again on the Methodist Church website.
5: The Bible Gateway provides a verse of the day and the “feed” from this is in this section. The Bible Gateway is an excellent resource for different versions of the Bible as well as many other helpful Bible related material.
If anyone has additional resources which they find helpful and which are freely available please speak to one of the stewards or Chris and we will see if we can add anything suitable to these pages.
