“Invitation to a changed life”
Jesus, throughout his ministry, went to where people were in need. He sought out those on the margins of society and became a part of their lives. Healing the sick, befriending the not quite rights and outcasts.
To paraphrase – let us, this Lent, strive to be effective where we can be effective and support others where they can be more effective. To the glory of God.
Hymn: Singing the Faith – 662 “Have you heard God’s voice, has your heart been stirred”
Daily Sketch
Today’s passage spoke to me of that personal invitation given to everyone and our responsibility to extend that invitation. Places are not limited there is a never ending supply of invitations!
Let us pray together.
Audio of Prayer section
After the contemplation words. The audio has approximately four and a half minutes of the quiet background music for your own prayers. If you would like longer just stop the audio and re-start it when you wish. If you want a shorted period “drag” the audio to 05:35 which is just before the final prayer.
Contemplation Words
“ I’m here inviting outsiders, not insiders—an invitation to a changed life, changed inside and out.” (v 32 The Message)
Contemplative Prayer
Think of the words in order to understand context and meaning, Feel the meaning of the words with and in your heart,
Pray, using the words, for yourself or others. With only a name and without explaining the reasons or pre-defining any answers.
Listen for God’s voice in the quiet of your prayers.
Pray using your own prayers or one of those which have been prepared below.
Twitter Prayer
Lord help me each day to change my life, inside and out” to become more like you and as I do so draw nearer to you. Amen
Facebook Prayer
Dear Lord we prayed yesterday that we be made confident speakers. Help us to see the times and places when we can be effective messengers of your word to the world. Give us the words which will change peoples lives inside and out whether they be inside our churches or outside. Whether they be like us or completely different. Amen
Full Prayer
Lord as John Wesley called to us, as he preached your word, may we be enthusiastic and passionate to do as he proclaims.
May I do all the good I can. By all the means I can. In all the ways I can. In all the places I can. At all the times I can. To all the people I can. As long as ever I can.
