Harvest Celebration at Hatfield Road
Our newly refurbished hall was the perfect setting for us to celebrate harvest, where 85 people with an age range of 90 years joined in socialising, country dancing and eating. Flowers decorated the hall, tables were laid with colourful cloths which looked most attractive, and people sat in groups chatting – there was a lovely atmosphere. Families and friends came, as well as church folk and we enjoyed a splendid supper of jacket potatoes with a range of fillings, salads and our usual amazing selection of desserts.
Val gave us clear directions and had chosen dances so that all could participate and we really enjoyed ourselves. Some preferred to sit and watch, while others joined in with enthusiasm, if not much skill! It was good to see young and old and those in between getting up to have a go, swinging their partners, promenading and trying to remember what to do next! Thanks go to all those who helped in so many ways to make this such a successful and enjoyable evening.
We are aware that while we were enjoying ourselves, with plenty to eat, many in the world go hungry and are in need, so we made donations to All We Can, the Methodist charity that works with those in the neediest places.
