The second verse is particularly appropriate but I quote from the more familiar first verse.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I&#8217;m laughing at clouds<br \/>\nSo dark up above<br \/>\nThe sun&#8217;s in my heart<br \/>\nAnd I&#8217;m ready for love<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/grassrain1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1878 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/grassrain1-300x165.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/grassrain1-300x165.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/grassrain1-768x423.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/grassrain1.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>One of my favourite smells is that of a newly mown lawn and even better with a short shower to intensify the depth of that smell. It is another of our senses which we can use to experience God&#8217;s creation.<\/p>\n<p>Our Psalm today uses many wonderful images to show the result of the coming of the promised perfect King. One of which is this image of rain falling on new mown fields.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Psalm foretells the coming of Jesus and the way that he will display his Kiingship, however, it also gives us the opportunity to consider how we are supposed to lead.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/loveis.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1877 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/loveis-295x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"295\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/loveis-295x300.jpg 295w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/loveis.jpg 707w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 295px) 100vw, 295px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A leader is supposed to judge with righteousness, to judge the poor with justice.<\/p>\n<p>A leader is supposed to care for the needy, the poor, and those who have no help.<\/p>\n<p>A leader is supposed to redeem the the weak and the needy from oppression and violence.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly as we look around the world such leaders are in short supply.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>But this is not just a challenge for leaders it is a challenge for each of us as we make decisions and shape our own lives each day. I pray thay we will be inspired to reflect on this Psalm as we pray for the world, write letters to our politicians, sign petitions, donate to charity and when the opportunity comes vote. The presence of God is with us and his light draws us and shines in us and through us as we do each of these things.<\/div>\n<h4 class=\"passage-display\"><span class=\"passage-display-bcv\">Psalm 72:1-7<\/span> <span class=\"passage-display-version\">New International Version &#8211; Help us to see that we are all made in your image.<\/p>\n<p>We ask that you give us strength to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.<\/p>\n<p>We pray for those displaced from their homes by war, intolerance and economic hardship.<\/p>\n<p>We pray for those discriminated against, those who are oppressed and those who live in fear.<\/p>\n<p>Lord, help us to stand up for justice and peace, in a world that desperately needs them. We ask these things in the name of Jesus.
