But if you endure when you do right and suffer for it, you have God\u2019s approval. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NRSV-30403\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-21\"><sup class=\"versenum\">21\u00a0<\/sup>For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"poetry\">\n<p class=\"line\"><span id=\"en-NRSV-30404\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-22\"><sup class=\"versenum\">22\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cHe committed no sin,<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"indent-1\"><span class=\"indent-1-breaks\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"text 1Pet-2-22\">and no deceit was found in his mouth.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"first-line-none\"><span id=\"en-NRSV-30405\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-23\"><sup class=\"versenum\">23\u00a0<\/sup>When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NRSV-30406\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-24\"><sup class=\"versenum\">24\u00a0<\/sup>He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. <\/span> <span id=\"en-NRSV-30407\" class=\"text 1Pet-2-25\"><sup class=\"versenum\">25\u00a0<\/sup>For you were going astray like sheep, but now you have returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls. (NRSV)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>John Chapter 10 verses 1 &#8211; 10<\/h2>\n<h3><span id=\"en-GNT-29523\" class=\"text John-10-1\">The Parable of the Shepherd<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"chapter-2\"><span class=\"text John-10-1\"><span class=\"chapternum\">10\u00a0<\/span>Jesus said, \u201cI am telling you the truth: the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a robber. <\/span> <span id=\"en-GNT-29524\" class=\"text John-10-2\"><sup class=\"versenum\">2\u00a0<\/sup>The man who goes in through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. <\/span> <span id=\"en-GNT-29525\" class=\"text John-10-3\"><sup class=\"versenum\">3\u00a0<\/sup>The gatekeeper opens the gate for him; the sheep hear his voice as he calls his own sheep by name, and he leads them out. <\/span> <span id=\"en-GNT-29526\" class=\"text John-10-4\"><sup class=\"versenum\">4\u00a0<\/sup>When he has brought them out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice. <\/span> <span id=\"en-GNT-29527\" class=\"text John-10-5\"><sup class=\"versenum\">5\u00a0<\/sup>They will not follow someone else; instead, they will run away from such a person, because they do not know his voice.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-GNT-29528\" class=\"text John-10-6\"><sup class=\"versenum\">6\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand what he meant.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"en-GNT-29529\" class=\"text John-10-7\">Jesus the Good Shepherd<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"text John-10-7\"><sup class=\"versenum\">7\u00a0<\/sup>So Jesus said again, \u201cI am telling you the truth: I am the gate for the sheep. <\/span> <span id=\"en-GNT-29530\" class=\"text John-10-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">8\u00a0<\/sup>All others who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. <\/span> <span id=\"en-GNT-29531\" class=\"text John-10-9\"><sup class=\"versenum\">9\u00a0<\/sup>I am the gate. Those who come in by me will be saved; they will come in and go out and find pasture. <\/span> <span id=\"en-GNT-29532\" class=\"text John-10-10\"><sup class=\"versenum\">10\u00a0<\/sup>The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy.
