He sought out those on the margins of society and became a part of their lives. Healing the sick, befriending the not quite rights and outcasts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-inner\">This speaks to me of how Jesus comes to meet us where we are. Whether that be a happy or sad place. Whether we are his followers or if we know nothing about him at all. Whether we have met him many times before or this is the first time.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-inner\">In the same way Jesus comes to his workers where they are and on familiar ground. In our passage Jesus comes to fishermen and so speaks of fishing and fish. He comes to each of us and speaks of the ways in which we too can be disciples. Whether that be through our profession or the skills and talents we express in our leisure time, whether that be with our voices, our minds or our practical hands.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-inner\">He is always ready to gather us to himself and remind us that we are loved, special and have a personal invitation, crafted and shaped just for us, to join with him in spreading the Good News.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Our challenge this Lent and indeed each and every other day is to find the places where people are in need of Jesus. We may do this ourselves or through our giving support to others who are more able to be effective in those places Both of these expressions, of our faith in Jesus and our love of neighbour are equally valid.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>As John Wesley puts it \u201cDo all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry themeform share\">\n<div class=\"entry-inner\">\n<p>To paraphrase &#8211; let us, this Lent, strive to be effective where we can be effective and support others where they can be more effective. With only a name and without explaining the reasons or pre-defining any answers.<\/p>\n<p>Listen for God\u2019s voice in the quiet of your prayers.<\/p>\n<p>Pray using your own prayers or one of those which have been prepared below.<\/p>\n<h3>Twitter Prayer<\/h3>\n<p>Lord help me each day to change my life, inside and out&#8221; to become more like you and as I do so draw nearer to you.
