Strange how your mind works&#8230; well mine at least.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;Broken hearts will mend<br \/>\nThis is our beginning<br \/>\nComin&#8217; to an end&#8221;<\/p>\n<div><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\">Anyway on to todays reflection &#8211; I love Berlin and have visited a number of times. <\/span><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\">Each time I visit I make a point of visiting one of the places where the Berlin Wall once stood or where there are some small remaining sections. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\">Whilst there I take a little time to remember that sometimes what seems impossible is possible. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\">The wall fell &#8211; dismantled by the people.<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4329864960p1\"><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1274 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"329\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem1-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem1-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem1-272x182.jpg 272w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 329px) 100vw, 329px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4329864960p1\"><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\">Whilst in the Holy Land we did stay for a couple of nights in Bethlehem which is still a relatively small town. It is the touching point between Israel and Palestine and has a imposing and somewhat sinister security wall. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4329864960p1\"><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\">As tourists the transition between the two sides of the wall is fairly straightforward<span class=\"yiv4329864960Apple-converted-space\"> but <\/span><\/span><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\">I understand that this is not always the case for the Palestinians working in Jerusalem as they navigate the checkpoints each day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4329864960p1\"><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\">The authorities would argue that the wall is there to maintain the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem2.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-2\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1276 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"348\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem2-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem2-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem2-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem2-272x182.jpg 272w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Bethlehem2.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/><\/a>peace and I suppose on one level it does but as with the Berlin Wall before it, the wall stands as a stark and very visible reminder of the division between two peoples.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4329864960p1\"><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\">The coming of the Christ Child foretold by Micah &#8211; and the peace promised seemed rather remote as I stood by that wall but we believe that the time will come when we will all live in peace and walls will no longer be necessary. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv4329864960p1\"><span class=\"yiv4329864960s1\">I pray that day may come soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Bible Passage: &#8211; Help us to dismantle those walls and instead build bridges which will being us closer together. Help us follow your gospel message to love our neighbour as ourselves. Where high dividing walls are present between partners, between children and parents, between friends and in churches. Walls which are constructred of pain and pride, busyness and neglect. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">We pray that you will come and help us tear down these walls, for you are our peace and Peacemaker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">We are certain that the day will come when we will love perfectly as you love us and walls will be no more. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Help us today, in our every word and deed, to give a glimpse of that sure and coming day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>In your all powerful name we ask this.
