{"id":1507,"date":"2018-11-13T10:15:53","date_gmt":"2018-11-13T10:15:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/?p=1507"},"modified":"2019-02-28T09:37:19","modified_gmt":"2019-02-28T09:37:19","slug":"remeberance-sunday-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/?p=1507","title":{"rendered":"Remembrance Sunday &#8211; 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">We will remember them.<\/h3>\r\n<p>In preparation for our Remembrance weekend, people made poppies \u2013 after church, a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/poppies2small.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1511 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/poppies2small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"165\" \/><\/a>t home and\u00a0 over a shared tea. These were displayed on our foyer noticeboard, highlighted and visible from the road to remind passers-by \u2013 a tribute to those who gave their lives.<\/p>\r\n<p>Some people wrote on the poppies the names of relatives, other poppies displayed names of those who died in the two World Wars who are recorded on our war memorials.<\/p>\r\n<p>On Saturday evening the film Private Peaceful was shown, a moving reminder of the effects of the First World War on a rural community, the men and boys who enlisted and their families and friends. The film showed the camaraderie, mutual support and the hardships and injustices of war.<\/p>\r\n<p>At our Remembrance Day service we were pleased to be able to re-dedicated the Memorial boards for both Hatfield Road and Boundary Road members who lost their lives in both World Wars. This was following their re-location into the church after our recent refurbishment of the Large Hall (formerly the worship area). The names of all commemorated on the memorials were read out.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Remembrance1.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1624 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Remembrance1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Remembrance1.jpg 250w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Remembrance1-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.hatfieldroadmethodist.org\/wptest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Remembrance1-160x160.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>The moving Remembrance communion service was led and specially created for us, by our own Minister Rev Andrew Prout,\u00a0 including hymns and words that were very meaningful. The beautiful words focused, not only on remembrance, but also on the peace and the hope which we have in Jesus.<\/p>\r\n<p>It was a time to reflect, pray, and remember those thousands of ordinary people whose lives have been changed by war.<\/p>\r\n<p>As we shared in the national two minutes silence, there was time for our own memories. When Reveille sounded, we prayed that peace will indeed come to our troubled world.
