Fairtrade Fortnight
Fairtrade Fortnight is back Monday 24 February – Sunday 8 March 2020.
For two weeks each year thousands of individuals, companies and groups across the UK come together to share the stories of the people who grow our food and drinks and who grow the cotton in our clothes, people who are often exploited and underpaid.
In 2019 the focus was on the people – in particular the women – who grow the cocoa in our chocolate. There were 4000 campaigner events reaching 1 million people.
In 2020 the focus will still be on cocoa, the special role women farmers play in the journey to living incomes, and sharing new stories and tools to get more people choosing Fairtrade chocolate.
What can you do to get involved? Lots.
- You could hold a fund raising event – coffee morning, bake sale…..
- Follow the fairtrade organisation on social media and help raise awareness among your friends and family.
- Choose fairtrade chocolate. Easter is coming. Commit to buying only fairtrade eggs this year.
- Commit to buying one fairtrade item a week. Yes, it may be a bit more expensive than your usual brand, but that’s because more money is going to the farmers/workers who produce it.
In 2020 will you do your bit for fair trade?
